Entering, and nonetheless, shooting a brand new hotel is always an exciting thing.
We were fortunate to be asked to shoot Six Senses Ibiza for ten days, during which we gathered many memories and anecdotes.
Here's only a few.
After a long and tiresome flight (Covid-19, remember?), we were beautifully welcomed by the Six Senses Task Force, who accompanied us to the Welcome Sala.
Any guest arriving at Six Senses Ibiza is welcomed by a Shaman, and we were happy to see that we were no exceptions.
After greeting us and burning incense around us, the Shaman asked us to close our eyes and imagine the relaxation we were set to experience during our vacation. Needless to say, our scheduled shooting at Six Senses was anything but relaxing, but thanks to this beautiful and exciting welcome, we collected even more energy and excitement.
Six Senses Ibiza Hotel is located in the north of Ibiza, where there are more cliffs and coves than beaches. Cala Xarraca, which is only a couple of minutes away, is dreamy and considered one of the island's most remote and isolated beaches. The surroundings are rocky and have the most magnificent view of a spectacular combination of big rocks and crystalline water.
Although we were shooting the hotel from a boat on our first day, we instantly knew we could not pass on the opportunity to shoot it from Xarraca beach.
We arrived in Cala Xarraca with our gear and searched for the best point of view. This included walking on the hot sandy beach and climbing rocks and cliffs, while everyone around us was with minimal swimsuits (if any), sunbathing and enjoying the sea, waves, and the sun. I guess we looked like a couple of strange birds with our long clothes and heavy gear, the furthest away from the vibes of this beach.
Chef Eyal Shani, who is in charge of the culinary aspect, met us one of those days and told us about a photograph of the Farmers' Market that enthralled him. That photo inspired him to make a tomatoes puddle around a red 50's Porche Tractor, which stands in the middle of the Farmers' Market.
"Will you be willing to come and shoot it?" he asked.
"Just tell us when the installation is ready and we will be more than happy to shoot it," we answered.
And so it was.
A day later, we arrived at the scene and witnessed Chef Shani with about a ton of different kinds of tomatoes around him, arranging and rearranging them, eventually creating a magnificent image of this beautiful tractor engulfed with tomatoes as they surround it.
It was nothing short of a pleasure to shoot those pictures.
